QuickRes is the quickest and easiest way to switch between screen resolutions on your Mac. With the MacBook Pro with Retina Display, you can set your resolution all the way up to an extreme 3840 x 2400! With other Macs, you can set your resolutions to things you’ve never seen before, including a HiDPI mode, which is as close you can get to a Retina Display on a standard computer.
Unobtrusive status bar menu app for changing the display resolution
Upon launch, QuickRes will place a small icon in your status bar: left clicking on the icon will actually change the resolution, while a right mouse click will reveal the app’s menu. The latter is extremely important because it gives you the opportunity to change the active profile, or to switch to a specific resolution right away.
Define your own profiles to simplify the process of toggling the display’s resolution
By default, QuickRes comes with 3 different profiles that have the same resolutions combinations. Via the QuickRes Preferences window you can easily change their name and the resolutions combinations: you can remove the default entries and add new ones through a drop down menu.
Depending on the active QuickRes profile, you will be able to change the desktop’s resolution by clicking on the app’s status bar menu. Noteworthy is that you can add as many resolutions to the same profile as you like: QuickRes will simply go through them successively.
Effortlessly toggle your screen’s resolution with a click of mouse, or by using hotkeys
QuickRes is a great tool to have around if you want to be able to switch your Mac’s resolution with minimal effort: you can manually select the resolution of your choice, or you can make use of the predefined profiles. In addition, QuickRes comes with built in hotkeys that make the entire process even faster.
